SEIEN CO., LTD.
星縁
Connections written in the stars
A go salon in the Namba area of Osaka, and the tournaments we run.
About Us
A board, two chairs, and someone you have not met yet
SEIEN is a small company in Osaka built around a simple idea: that a game of go brings people together. It was founded on 18 August 2026 by Hibiki Mishima, a professional player of the Kansai Ki-in.
The name Seien is written with two characters — 星, a star, and 縁, a connection between people. Put together they carry the sense of a connection written in the stars: the thought that a single game, played across a board that is its own small universe, can tie two strangers together for good.
If you play go, or have always wanted to learn, you are welcome here. A game needs no shared language — the board does the talking.
One game across a board becomes the reason to meet again.
Two Axes
What we do
We do two things, and they feed each other. People who meet at a tournament come back to the salon; conversations at the salon send people to the next tournament.
Go tournaments
We plan and run the Kansai Seien Pair Go Tournament and other events that are open to every level of strength. Pair go puts two players on the same side of the board, which turns a tournament into something closer to a gathering.
About the tournamentAn evening go salon
A go salon in the Namba area of Osaka, open in the evening, with drinks. Most go clubs in Japan are daytime places and serve no alcohol; we wanted somewhere you could play a game, then stay and talk.
About the salonVisiting from abroad
If you are in Osaka and want to play
Go is played the same way everywhere, and the board is the same board. You do not need Japanese to sit down and play a game with someone.
It is fair to say, though, that we are a small company in Osaka and our staff speak mainly Japanese. We will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that you will be made welcome, that someone will find you an opponent, and that the game itself will work perfectly well.
The salon is due to have its soft opening in January 2027. Until then, the best way to reach us is the contact form.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
I do not speak Japanese. Can I still play?
Yes. Go uses no words — the rules, the board and the stones are the same everywhere, and a game works perfectly well between two people with no language in common. Our staff speak mainly Japanese, so conversation beyond the board may be limited, but playing will not be a problem.
Where exactly is the go salon?
In Nishi-Shinsaibashi 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Osaka — the Namba area, in the south of central Osaka. The soft opening is planned for January 2027, and the full address will be published here before then.
Can visitors from overseas enter the tournament?
Yes. The Kansai Seien Pair Go Tournament is open to anyone who enters as a pair, at any strength. Please note that the tournament itself is run in Japanese.
